Kilimanjaro Native Cooperative Union (1984) Ltd (KNCU) has announced a General Manager job vacancy for qualified, dedicated, self-motivated and skilled Tanzanian professionals. KNCU is a farmer-owned cooperative union established in 1933 to promote the collective interests of smallholder coffee farmers in the Kilimanjaro Region.
The union is legally registered under the Tanzania Cooperative Societies Act No. 6 of 2013, with registration number AFF-KJR-MSH-MC-2023-44, and operates across Siha, Hai, Moshi Rural and Rombo districts.

Position Summary
The General Manager will serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the Union and will be accountable to the Managing Board.
Duties and Responsibilities
The General Manager will be responsible for the following duties:
- Recruiting employees, supporting career development and taking disciplinary action against subordinate employees in consultation with the Board.
- Coordinating the implementation of the Strategic Plan, Business Plan, action plans and organizational targets.
- Liaising with coffee industry regulators, coffee research institutions, local authorities, agricultural input suppliers, NGOs, religious institutions, financial institutions and other relevant stakeholders to support the sustainability and profitability of the coffee value chain.
- Ensuring that effective performance management and reporting systems are in place and facilitating efficient communication.
- Ensuring that income and expenditure statements, balance sheets and other financial records are properly managed.
- Ensuring that accounting books and records are properly maintained and made available to auditors in a timely manner.
- Convening General Meetings of the Union in consultation with the Chairperson.
- Serving as Secretary at all General Meetings of the Union and meetings of the Board.
- Authorizing and facilitating the payment of salaries, allowances and other payments approved by the Board.
- Handling disciplinary matters concerning employees under his or her supervision in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and the Union's policies and procedures.
- Maintaining good relationships with KNCU (1984) members and establishing mutually beneficial business partnerships.
- Ensuring compliance with the Cooperative Development Policy, the Cooperative Societies Act, Cap 211 of 2025, its Regulations, KNCU (1984) Ltd By-Laws, Strategic Plan and operational manuals in realizing DIRA 2050.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Applicants for the KNCU General Manager position should meet the following requirements:
Education
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in any of the following fields:
- Management
- Economics
- Agriculture
- Business Administration
- Cooperative Management
The qualification should be obtained from a recognized institution.
Work Experience
Candidates should have proven relevant work experience of at least two (2) years in a managerial or related position.
Language and Communication Skills
Applicants should have strong communication skills in both Kiswahili and English, together with good report-writing and data-analysis abilities.
Technical Skills
Applicants should demonstrate proficiency in relevant computer and data-analysis tools, including:
- Microsoft Office
- Microsoft Excel
- Gantt Charts
- Kobo Toolbox
Other Competencies
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Strong organizational skills
- Good time-management skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Good communication and reporting skills
- Ability to work effectively with different stakeholders
