Planning Manager at Mbeya Cement Company Limited
Mbeya Cement Company Limited, a member of Amsons Group, is inviting applications from qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Planning Manager. The successful candidate will be based at the Mbeya Plant under a permanent employment contract and will report to the Head of Engineering.
Main Responsibilities
The Planning Manager will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing long-term maintenance plans that support the company’s objectives and improve equipment reliability.
- Leading, mentoring and developing a team of maintenance planners while setting clear targets and promoting safety and efficiency.
- Reading, interpreting and translating technical equipment manuals into processes required for asset management, including inspection, lubrication, preventive maintenance, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, electronics and HSE activities.
- Working closely with operations, engineering and other departments to schedule maintenance activities while minimizing interruptions to production.
- Analysing maintenance data, KPIs and equipment history to identify trends, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on recurring problems and support improvement initiatives.
- Managing and optimizing the use of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for planning, scheduling, improvement and reporting.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in cement manufacturing or extractive industries.
Technical and Behavioral Competencies
The ideal candidate should have:
- Proven experience in leading and managing teams for at least five years.
- Strong knowledge of project management.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and motor circuits.
- Knowledge of gearboxes, transmission, welding technology, lubrication and non-destructive testing.
- Good knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015).
- Knowledge of budgeting, cost analysis and cost tracking.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
